European Union-African Union summit: a “shared vision for 2030”

The sixth EU-AU Summit brought together the leaders of both regions to drive forwards the relations and develop a new framework of association that establishes Africa as a “privileged partner.”

In this regard, the EU announced its intention to promote an “ambitious package of large-scale investments” in Africa involving spending 150 billion euros in the coming years, as part of the connectivity initiative “Global Gateway”. Priority areas for cooperation notably included trading relations and support for the private sector, financing growth, aid in the area of the current health crisis, climate change challenges and driving connectivity and key infrastructure, promoting stability and security in the region, and the migration policy.
