BusinessEurope vehemently condemned Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine, showed its support for the Ukrainian people and backed European action.

Regarding the scope of sanctions against Russia adopted by the EU, it emphasised that they must be as clear as possible, be well-focused and coordinated with other partners, especially the United States. It also called on the EU to consider support measures to mitigate the economic impact of such sanctions, as well as to intensify its capacity for preparedness should there be disruptions to the energy markets and to guarantee alternative sources of supply.
