Business messages to the European Council: getting back on track with security and prosperity

BusinessEurope again condemned the Russian invasion and restated its full support for Ukraine and the agreed sanctions; it urged unity and coordination to cushion the negative effects on the economy and the business environment.

To avoid worsening the energy crisis and to achieve an economically- and socially-viable transition, it called for rapid, targeted measures to curb price escalation, to achieve an integrated European energy market and to diversify sources of supply.

It also advocated interconnections, securing sufficient investments to ease industry’s ecological transition, and setting realistic deadlines for energy and climate policies to prevent sudden supply disruptions. It also encouraged accelerating the development of the EU’s defence pillar and strengthening the EU’s global competitiveness.
