Meeting with the US Ambassador to Spain
On 14 September, the President of the CEOE Antonio Garamendi met the US Ambassador to Spain, H.E. Julissa Reynoso. Marta Blanco, the President of CEOE International, also participated in the meeting.

This meeting was undoubtedly a fantastic opportunity to present the work of our Business Organisation to the new US Ambassador and the economic and trade advisors who have recently joined her team.
The shared interests between the two economies are extensive and strategic in the current international landscape in which alliances with like-minded partners are essential. Strengthening transatlantic relations is one of the CEOE’s priorities and several areas for collaboration were explored during the meeting.
EU Funding for economic recovery; EU-US collaboration in third markets, with a special focus on Latin America; and the Trade and Technology Council were among the matters addressed.
In 2021, bilateral trade between the two countries has risen by 5.621 billion euros thanks to increased exports and imports following the pandemic. The country continues to offer great potential for our international trade. The USA was the leading investor in Spain in terms of stock in 2019, with 18.4% of the total, and the leading destination for Spanish investment in terms of stock (18.9% of the total). About 1,006 US companies operate directly in Spain, and around 650 subsidiaries of Spanish companies are present in the US market.
