The President of the CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, and the President of the Confederación Canaria de Empresarios (Canarian Confederation of Entrepreneurs), Agustín Manrique de Lara, signed the protocol for the new Ibero-African Business Council to be installed in the Canary Islands. This institution aims to strengthen business relations between southern Europe and Africa, making Spain a bridge between these two regions.

Both businesspeople and the authorities have highlighted the opportunity this Council offers to promote business relations between the two continents and to create value proposals that will strengthen Ibero-African companies.

In this connection, the President of the CEOE said that “Africa not only creates interest in Spanish companies, but also in the rest of Europe”. He highlighted the experience of Canary Islands employers in their relations with African companies and thanked the Government of the Canary Islands and the Confederation Canaria de Empresarios (Confederation of Canary Islands Employers) for their work on this project.

Moreover, the President of the Las Palmas employers’ association, Agustín Manrique de Lara, whose mandate expires on 30 June, will be responsible for leading the new Ibero-African Business Committee.
