Also participating in the meeting were the Embassy’s Minister Counsellor, Salamata Dramé, CEPICI’s Head of Market Studies, Ahoua Traore, and Miguel Brunete, of CEOE International.

During the meeting, Carole Versteeg explained the workings of her organisation, which is responsible for promoting and attracting domestic and foreign direct investment into the Ivory Coast and acts as a one-stop shop in this field. He also pointed out the main sectors in which opportunities exist in the country, among which he highlighted agribusiness, infrastructure, the chemical sector and the service sector.

For her part, Marta Blanco stressed the great economic potential of the Ivory Coast and Spanish companies’ interest in expanding their presence in the country. She also set out the importance of informing companies about opportunities in the country and meeting their needs so they can realise them.

Future avenues of collaboration between the Confederation and CEPICI were also discussed. A meeting will be held soon to set out the investment opportunities in the country. The Ivory Coast’s new National Development Plan is noteworthy in this area.

The Ivory Coast’s economy has developed enormously in recent years: its GDP has grown at an average rate of more than 5%. The forecast growth for 2021, in the absence of official data, was 6.9%. Total exports to the Ivory Coast were worth 291 million euros in 2021 and the investment stock is currently estimated at 4 million euros.
