CEOE International meets the Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya in Spain

Reunion embajada Kenia

On 15 September, the president of CEOE International, Marta Blanco, met the new ambassador of the Republic of Kenya in Spain, Michael A. O. Oyugi. The second advisor, David Maina, and the commercial and technical assistant, Kamau Githure, from the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Spain, as well as Miguel Brunete, CEOE International’s Africa technician also participated in the meeting.

The meeting assessed the implications for foreign diplomacy of the formation of the new Government of the Republic of Kenya, as were its economic and business vision and priorities.

Attendees also stressed the importance of boosting bilateral business cooperation between the two countries in sectors such as energy and transport infrastructure. To achieve this, they agreed to continue to work together on new initiatives and activities.

Kenya’s economy is highly developed and offers excellent trade and investment opportunities. For more than a decade, its GDP growth rates have been around 5% and, after the pandemic, its income rose 7.5% in 2021. Due to this, Spanish investment in the country has been rising strongly, reaching 43.7 million euros in stock. All in, Spain is Kenya’s seventh-largest supplier and sixth-largest customer in the European Union; Spanish exports of capital goods and imports of food products from Kenya stand out.
