This session, which brought together members of the Trade Committee on a hybrid basis for the first time since the pandemic began, was attended by the OECD’s Trade Director, Marion Jansen, as well as the head of the OECD’s Trade, Climate and Environment and Digital Trade Divisions, Susan Stone.

During the first part of the meeting, Business at OECD members shared their perspectives internally on issues in the field of international trade that are considered a priority in the current context. In this respect, one of the central themes of the conversation was to examine the implications of the Russia-Ukraine crisis for global supply chains and the global economy.

During her speech, Marta Blanco, besides highlighting the impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on major sectors of the Spanish economy, insisted on the need for the OECD to guide its work according to a long-term vision that will allow economic operators to address forthcoming macroeconomic challenges, such as inflation, with less uncertainty.

The internal session was followed by a discussion with OECD representatives. An opportunity to convey the private sector’s priorities to the organisation, ultimately to influence the agenda of the OECD Trade Committee, which will be discussed among Member States on 5-6 April.
