The Presidents of CEOE, Juan Rosell, and AREL, Francesco Merloni, delivered the closing speech at the Italy-Spain Dialogue Forum

The presidents of CEOE, Juan Rosell, and AREL, Francesco Merloni, closed the 15th edition of the Spain-Italy Dialogue Forum, held in Rome and attended by important personalities and entrepreneurs from both countries.

The presidents of CEOE, Juan Rosell, and AREL, Francesco Merloni, closed the 15th edition of the Spain-Italy Dialogue Forum, held in Rome and attended by important personalities and entrepreneurs from both countries. In addition to the two co-presidents of the Forum, the event was attended by the Italian Minister of Culture, Dario Franceschini; the Rector of Luiss University, Paola Severino; the IESE professor and President of the IESE Foundation, Jordi Canals; the President of INDRA, Fernando Abril; and the CEO of ENI, Claudio Descalzi. All of them believe in innovation as the tool to re-launch competitiveness and stressed that Spain and Italy want a more modern and competitive EU.

The Forum was also attended by the Ministers of Economy of Spain and Italy, Luis de Guindos and Pier Carlo Padoan; the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Alfonso Dastis and Angelino Alfano; Italy’s President of the Council of Ministers, Paolo Gentiloni; and the general coordinators of the Forum, Enricco Letta and Josep Antoni Duran i Lleida. The ambassadors of Spain to Italy, Jesus Manuel Gracia and of Italy to Spain, Stefano Sannino, were also present at the event.

Attending personalities from the academic, economic, political and business worlds from both countries included Felipe González, former president of the Spanish government; Emma Marcegaglia, President of BusinessEurope; Vincenzo Boccia, President of the Italian Employers’ organization Confindustria; Giuliano Amato, former president of Italy’s Council of Ministers and the Ibero-American Secretary General, Rebeca Grynspan.

Discussions revolved around issues such “Spain and Italy’s approach to the discussion of the political future of the EU”; the European economic re-launching; development in Latin America and the joint commitment of Spain and Italy with this market; the future Europe and its commitment to a more modern and competitive Europe; and re-launching competitiveness through innovation.

Tiépolo Award

In addition, last night Tiépolo awards were presented.  This year, the winners were Antonio Huertas, President of Mapfre and Urbano Cairo, President of Cairo Communication.
