During his talk, Javier Tebas analysed the economic impact of the football industry, which generates 1.13% of the GDP and employs, either directly or indirectly, 260,000 people. “This sector contributes net €960 million to the country”, said Tebas.

One of the issues that concerns the president of La Liga the most is the hurdles derived from regulation, which make the activity less competitive in comparison to other competitions such as the Premier League or the Italian League. In this sense he added that “changes in legal certainty over the past few years have harmed the sector tremendously".

On the other hand, Tebas explained that La Liga plays the part of employer in the sector, regulator of the competition and salesman of the assets, where “criteria to be taken into account are not just economic but also sports related”.

Furthermore, Javier Tebas explained that La Liga is financially sound and is firmly committed to talent and digitalization. La Liga is present in 84 countries and collaborates with Embassies and Chambers of Commerce.

The event was closed by the president of CEPYME, Antonio Garamendi, who recalled the recent incorporation of La Liga as a member of CEOE.
