The economy is still growing, boosted by employment and the recovery of the real estate market

The forecast for the Spanish economy remains at a GDP of 2.8% for 2018, according to the consensus from a board of Spanish analysts. Thus, the Funcas panel has not modified the 2.8% forecasted for this year or the figure forecasted for 2019 (2.4%). These forecasts are in line with those from the European Commission published in June, although they had lowered their growth forecast by 0.1% from the previous 2.9%, as indicated in CEOE’s Economic Outlook report prepared by the Research Unit of the Economic and European Affairs Department.

The Spanish economy has kept its growth rate in the second quarter around 0.7%, a similar figure than the one posted in the first quarter.  Therefore, it stands out as one of the countries that is growing the fastest within the Eurozone. The favourable financial conditions, the gains in competitiveness and the high job creation rate are supporting growth and enabling a correction of the economy’s imbalances, says CEOE’s report.
