CEOE: THE NUMBER OF EMPLOYED PERSONS POST THE HIGHEST INCREASE IN THE HISTORICAL SERIES

The LFS for the second quarter reflects a new boost for the labour market, thus counteracting the less favourable results from the first quarter

In its analysis of the Labour Force Survey, CEOE underlines that the pace at which employment is being created increased to an annual 2.82%, resulting in 530,800 more jobs in a year.  Thus, the number of people employed stands once again at more than 19 million, specifically at 19,344,100 people, the highest figure for Q2 since 2008.

This greater dynamism of the labour market in the second quarter, according to the LFS, which differs from the decreasing trend shown by the number of people registered with the Social Security over this same period, compensates for the less favourable results of the first quarter, even though the Holy Week landed in March. Thus, in the first half of the year, the number of people employed according to the LFS grew by 2.6%, a figure similar to that recorded in the last quarter of 2017.
