CEOE AT THE BUSINESS FORUM HELD IN THE CITY OF SAN ANTONIO (TEXAS) AND PRESIDED BY KING FELIPE VI

His Majesty King Felipe VI presided a Business Forum in the city of San Antonio, with the participation of fifty companies from Spain and Texas with the aim of strengthening the economic and commercial relationship between Spain and this State, as well as to promote business opportunities for Spanish companies in Texas.

Attending on behalf of CEOE were Joaquìm Gay de Montellà, vice president of the organization and president of its International Relations Commission, and the Director of the President’s Cabinet and of the Institutional and International Relations Departments, Narciso Casado. Gay de Montellà, pointed out during his speech that the United States, because of its market size of 340 million inhabitants with a high purchasing power, the legal certainty and the right environment to do business, is one of the best in the world and has become one the main destination for our companies’ investment, with a stock of €78 billion.

According to Gay de Montellà, this upward trend, which seems to be following through in 2017, with a net investment flow of more than €1.9 billion, is not only focused on the financial, power generation and infrastructure sectors, but also on sectors related to automobiles, food, metallurgy, oil extraction and the pharmaceutical industry.

The president of CEOE’s International Relations Commission expressed the absolute willingness of Spanish businessmen to strengthen relations in collaboration with their counterpart organization, the US Chamber of Commerce. The meeting was also attended by the Secretary of State for Texas, Rolando Pablos; the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation for Spain, Josep Borrell; and top executives from important Spanish companies.
