ANA PLAZA DELIVERED THE CLOSING SPEECH AT THE SIXTH FORUM OF WOMEN IN MANAGEMENT POSITIONS

CEOE’s Secretary General asks for more efforts to reach the 40% representation of women on Company Boards, as the EU has proposed.

CEOE’s General Secretary, Ana Plaza, asked for everyone’s efforts, entrepreneurs, managers, education institution and society as a whole in order to reach the goal of 40% representation of women in Boards of Directors proposed by the European Commission for 2020. She did so during her speech at the closing act of the Sixth Forum of Women in Management Positions (IV Foro de Mujeres Directivas), organized by newspaper La Razón under the title “We are walking towards equality”.

According to Ana Plaza, we’ve made progress on this issue but we are still far from reaching the mentioned goal. We must be more ambitious in top management positions, both at CEO level and in Boards of Directors and we must improve the presence of women in jobs with more technical content. We have a shared responsibility in this path to foster equal opportunities. And, of course, this responsibility also lies on the companies through their policies to attract, promote and retain talent.
